SPECIES DESCRIPTION: An attractive and fairly common shrubby plant growing to 50cm. Stems reddish and bright, golden yellow flowers, with pincushion stamens, in terminal clusters. The fruits are red berries turning to black when ripe, eaten and spread by birds. The leaves are found in opposite pairs and are broad and oval. Tutsan grows wild in open woods, hedgerows and limestone pavement. Seeds freely and can become a nuisance in the garden.
